At U-HOP, we want to link individuals through transport and bring communities together. In this privacy policy, we will inform you what data we obtain from U-HOP riders and drivers and how we use it to link cyclists to drivers and continue to enhance our facilities. Below, we’ll clarify how you can share with other cyclists and drivers in the U-HOP community as part of our mission to bring individuals together.
Scope of this Privacy Policy
U-HOP (“U-HOP,” “we,” “our” and/or “us”) values the privacy of people using our application, websites and associated services (collectively, the “U-HOP Platform”). This Privacy Policy(‘ Privacy Policy’) describes how we gather, use and share data from U-HOP customers (“Users”), which includes both U-HOP riders (“Riders”) and U-HOP drivers (including Driver Applicants) (“Drivers”). In addition to the Privacy Policy, your use of U-HOP is also subject to our Terms of Service.
Information We collect
- A. Information You provide us
Registration Information. Upon Registration you give us your name, email address, and phone number when you sign up for a U-HOP account. If you decide to sign up for U-HOP using your Facebook account, we’ll also get fundamental data from your Facebook profile, such as your name, gender, profile picture, and Facebook friends.
Information about the user profile. When you join the U-HOP community, you can develop a U-HOP profile to share fun facts about yourself and to explore mutual friends and interests. Filling a profile is optional, and you can share as little or as much as you want. Your name (and Drivers, Profile pictures) is always component of your Profile. Read more below about how to control who sees your profile. You can also add a Business Profile to your account that needs a specified company email address and payment method. 4
Communications. If you contact us directly, we may be given extra data about you. For example, when you contact our Customer Support Team, we will receive your name, email address, phone number, message content or attachments that you may send to us, and any other information you choose to provide.
Information about driver application. In relation to fundamental enrollment data, we ask you for your date of birth, physical address, Social Security number, driver’s license data, vehicle data, car insurance data, and in some jurisdictions, we may obtain extra business license or allowing data. We share this data with our partners who assist us by conducting background checks on drivers to assist safeguard the U-HOP community.
Information about payment. To ensure that drivers are paid, we keep data about Drivers’ bank routing numbers, tax data, and any other payment data supplied by Drivers.
Method of payment. When you add a credit card or payment technique to your U-HOP account, you will obtain your card data from a third-party that handles payments for us. We do not store complete credit card information on our servers to maintain your economic data safe.
- B. Information we collect when you use the U-HOP location information platform.
U-HOP is all about linking Drivers to Riders. We need to understand where you are to do this. We will obtain your place when you open U-HOP on your mobile device. We may also retrieve the exact place of your device when the app is operating in the foreground or background. If you label certain places, such as “home” and “work,” we also get that data.
Your location data is essential for things like matching Riders with neighboring Drivers, determining drop off and pick up places, and proposing destinations based on past journeys. In addition, if necessary, our Trust & Safety team may use and share location information to help protect the safety of U-HOP users or members of the public. In relation to the factors outlined above, Drivers ‘ location and distance travel data is essential for the calculation of U-HOP fees and insurance. If you grant us approval to use your device settings or the U-HOP app, we may retrieve your place while the app is off to recognize promotions or service updates in your region.
Information about use. To help us understand how you use the U-HOP Platform and to help us improve it, we automatically receive information about your interactions with the U-HOP Platform, such as the pages or other content you view, your actions within the U-HOP App, and the dates and times of your visits.
Information about the device. U-HOP receives information from users ‘ devices, including IP address, web browser type, mobile operating system version, phone carrier and manufacturer, application installations, device identifiers, mobile advertising IDs, push notification tokens and, if you register with your Facebook account, your Facebook ID. Mobile sensor information is collected from Drivers ‘ devices (such as velocity, direction, height, acceleration or deceleration) to enhance location precision and evaluate usage trends.
Information on the call and text. We operate with a third-party partner to promote phone calls and text messages between Riders and Drivers who are attached for a ride. We obtain data on these communications, including the date and time of the call or SMS message, the telephone numbers of the parties and the content of any SMS messages. For security purposes, we may also monitor and/or record the contents of phone calls made on the U-HOP platform, such as those made between Riders and Drivers. You will be notified that your call may be registered, and by proceeding you agree to allow U-HOP to monitor and/or record your call.
Address Book Contacts. If you allow U-HOP to access the address book on your device through the permission system used by your mobile platform, we may access and store names and contact information from your address book to facilitate invitations and social interactions that you initiate through our platform and for other purposes described in this privacy policy or at the time of your consent or collection.
Feedback from the user. At U-HOP, we want to create sure that users are always enjoying excellent rides. Riders and Drivers may rate and review each other at the end of each journey. We obtain data on ratings and reviews and, as explained below, provide Riders with data on Drivers ‘ ratings and reviews and vice versa.
Information on cookies and similar technologies. We obtain data using cookies, pixels tracking, and comparable techniques to know how you navigate the U-HOP Platform and communicate with U-HOP advertisements, to know what content is common, and to save your preferences. Cookies are tiny text files placed on your computer by web servers; they are intended to store fundamental data and assist websites and applications to acknowledge your browser. Both session cookies and persistent cookies may be used. After you close your browser, a session cookie will disappear. A constant cookie continues after you close your browser and can be accessed every time you use the U-HOP platform. You should consult your web browser(s) to change the settings of your cookie. Please notice that if you delete or choose not to accept cookies from us, some characteristics of the U-HOP Platform may be lacking.
- C. Information We collect from third-party services.
Partners of third parties. We may obtain extra information about you, such as demographic data, billing information or fraud detection information, from third-party partners and combine it with other information we have about you.
Third-Party Services. If you choose to register for U-HOP or otherwise link your U-HOP account to a third-party service (such as Facebook), we may obtain the same sort of data that we obtain from you (described above) directly from those facilities.
Enterprise Programs. If your business, college or organization participates in one of our business programs, such as U-HOP for Work, we may obtain data about you, such as your email address, from your participating organization. We may also offer your
participating organization the chance to request a ride on your behalf, in which case they may provide us with your name, phone number, pick-up and drop off place for your trip.
Background Driver Information. U-HOP operates with third-party partners to conduct driving records and criminal background checks on Drivers, and we obtain data from them, such as publicly accessible data on Driver’s driving record or criminal history.
How We Use the Information We Collect
We use the information we collect from all Users to:
1. Send you text messages and push notifications;
2. Connect Riders to Drivers;
3. Facilitate transactions and payments;
4. Provide, enhance, grow and encourage the U-HOP Platform;
5. Analyze how the U-HOP community utilizes the U-HOP Platform;
6. Personalize the U-HOP experience for you and your friends and contacts;
7. Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for marketing and promotional reasons;
8. Provide you with customer support;
9. Find and prevent fraud; and
10. Respond to trust and safety issues that may arise, including auto incidents, disputes between Riders and Drivers, and requests from government authorities.
In addition, we use the data we collect from Drivers for the following reasons linked to riding on the U-HOP Platform:
1. Sending emails and text messages to Drivers who have begun the driver application process concerning the status of their application;
2. Calculating and providing U-HOP’s auto insurance policy and analyzing usage patterns for safety and insurance purposes.
3. Determining Driver’s eligibility to drive on the U-HOP; and
4. Notifying Drivers about driving demand, pricing and service updates.
How We Share Information We Collect
- A. Share Between Users
Share Between Riders and Drivers. Riders and drivers who have been matched for a ride can see fundamental data about each other, such as names, photos, ratings, and any data they have added to their profiles. Riders and drivers who link their U-HOP accounts to Facebook will also be able to see their Facebook friends during the
journey. Drivers will see the pick-up place given by the Rider. Riders see data about the driver’s car and the place of the car in real time as the driver approaches the pick-up place. Drivers ‘ ratings are shared with Drivers on a weekly basis. We’re de-identifying ratings and feedback, but we can’t rule out that the driver might be able to identify the rider who supplied the rating or feedback.
Although we help Riders and Drivers to communicate with each other to arrange a pick-up, we do not share your actual phone number or other contact information with other Users. If you report a lost or discovered item to us, we will try to link you with the respective Rider or Driver, including sharing the real contact data with your consent.
Sharing with U-HOP WithMe Riders. If you are using U-HOP WithMe, Riders who have been matched with you will be able to see your name, picture and any data you have added to your Profile. If you link your U-HOP account to Facebook (e.g. by signing up via Facebook), we can demonstrate your mutual friends to other riders who are also attached via Facebook. During the U-HOP WithMe matching method, we may demonstrate you and other Riders pictures of possible matches.
- B. Sharing of APIs between U-HOP
API and integration partners. If you connect to the U-HOP Platform by integrating it with a third-party service, we may share data about your use of the U-HOP Platform with that third-party. In order to obtain extra data about you, we may share your data with our third-party partners. We may also share your data with third-party partners in order to generate deals that may be of concern to you.
Services of third parties. The U-HOP Platform may allow you to connect to other websites, products or services that we have no control over (for instance, we may offer you the capacity to order food delivery from a restaurant within the U-HOP app). If you use these services, we will provide information about you to third parties so that they can provide you with the service (for example, we will give the restaurant your name, phone number and address to drop off the food). We cannot talk about the privacy procedures of these third parties, and we promote you to read their privacy policies before choosing whether to use their services.
Service providers. We operate with third-party service suppliers to provide services on our behalf, and we may share your data with those service suppliers to assist us deliver the U-HOP platform, including all of the items outlined in Section 3 above.
Enterprise Partners. If you engage in an enterprise program and charge a ride on your organization’s billing technique or credits, we will provide your organization’s account holder with data about your use of the U-HOP platform, including date, time, charge, and pick up and drop off places. If you generate a Business Profile, you will
have the choice at the end of each ride to define the trip as a company trip. If you do, and your organization has a corporate account with U-HOP, we may share data about your use of the U-HOP Platform with your organization, including travel details such as date, time, charge, and region of the journey. If you modify your organization, it is your duty to update your Business Profile with fresh data. (Please remember to verify and set your name settings accordingly.) If you add your account to your expense platform (like Concur) we will share your travel information with your expense account.
International partners. We’ve partnered with several ride-sharing facilities around the globe so Riders can continue to discover rides when they open the U-HOP app overseas, and Drivers can provide services to global tourists in the U.S. When we match a ride with our partner, we share the same data that is shared between the Riders and Drivers on the U-HOP platform. In some cases, your phone number cannot be masked if you call an global driver, so kindly keep that in mind before using this function.
Other Sharing. We may share your data with third parties in the following instances:
1. while negotiating or in relation to a change in corporate control such as reorganization, merger or sale of our assets;
2. when a government agency requests data and we believe that disclosure is needed or suitable in order to comply with the legislation, regulations or legal process;
3. with law enforcement officials, government authorities or third parties, if we believe that this is essential to safeguard the freedoms, assets or security of the U-HOP group, the U-HOP community or the public (you can read more about this in our Law Enforcement Request Policy);
4. To comply with a legal necessity or process, including but not restricted to, civil and criminal notices, court orders or other mandatory disclosures.;
5. If you have signed up for a promotion with another User’s referral or promotion code, with your referrer to let them know about your redemption or promotion qualification;
6. with our insurance partners to assist determine and provide appropriate coverage in the case of an incident;
7. to provide data on the use of the U-HOP Platform to prospective company partners in aggregation or aggregation; and
8. Whenever you consent to sharing.
Your Options
Email Subscriptions. You can always unsubscribe from our business or promotional messages, but we will still send you transactional and relational messages about your account using the U-HOP platform.
Text Messages. You can opt out of getting business or promotional text messages by sending the term END to 8323326014 from a mobile device that receives messages. You may also opt out of getting all texts from U-HOP (including transactional or relational emails) by sending the term STOPALL to 8323326014 from a mobile device that receives emails, but opting out of getting all texts may have an effect on your use of the U-HOP platform. Drivers can also opt out of driver-specific emails by texting STOP in reaction to an SMS driver. To re-enable text, you can text START in reaction to an unsubscribe SMS confirmation.
Push notifications. You can opt out of getting push notifications via your device settings. Please notice that opting out of obtaining push notifications may influence your use of the U-HOP platform (such as getting a notification that your ride has arrived).
Information on the profile. While your name will always be shared with Drivers and fellow U-HOP WithMe Riders, you can delete any additional information that you have added to your Profile at any time if you don’t want Drivers and U-HOP WithMe Riders to see it. Riders will always be able to see Drivers ‘ names, ratings, profile pictures and car data.
Information about location. While you can prevent your device from sharing location information at any time through your Device’s operating system settings, the location of Rider and Driver is central to the U-HOP platform, and without it, we cannot provide you with our services.
Facebook Friends. You can regulate whether to allow or disable the Facebook Friends function via your profile settings.
Edit and Access Your Information. You can review and edit certain account data by logging in to your account environments and profile (Drivers can edit extra data through the Driver Portal). If you would like to terminate your U-HOP account, kindly contact us with your request through our Help Center. If you choose to terminate your account, we will deactivate it for you, but may maintain data from your account for a period of time and disclose it in a way consistent with our procedures under this Privacy Policy for accounts that are not closed. We may also maintain data from your account to collect any charges due, resolve conflicts, troubleshoot issues, evaluate the use of the U-HOP Platform, help in any investigation, deter fraud, implement our Terms of Service or take any other action as needed or allowed by law.
Other
Security of Data. We are dedicated to defending U-HOP community information. Although we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no safety measures can be 100% secure and we cannot ensure the security of your data.
The Privacy of Children. U-HOP is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we find out that a kid under the age of 13 has provided us with private data, we will take measures to delete that data. If you think that a kid under the age of 13 has provided us with private data, kindly contact us at our Help Center.
Changes to the Privacy Policy. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we create any material adjustments, we’ll let you know through the U-HOP Platform, email, or other communications. We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy periodically to keep up to date on our privacy procedures. As long as you use the U-HOP Platform, you agree to this Privacy Policy and any changes we make to it.
